French Allure: Paris & the Riviera

A self-directed day along the coast with a few good options depending on mood. Cannes is forty minutes west and earns a proper morning — the old port, the Marché Forville, the Rue Meynadier for local shopping rather than the Croisette. The coastal promenades between the towns are some of the best walking on the Riviera. The Villa Ephrussi de Rothschild at Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat is the historic manor worth the detour — a Belle Époque estate with nine themed gardens above the sea that most visitors to the area miss entirely.
