BEST TIME TO TRAVEL:
Iceland has something to offer year round, but keep in mind the weather can be extreme so plan your travels according to what you desire to do. The daylight is long in summer and very short in winter. High season is June to August but if seeing the Aurora Borealis is the reason for your visit, you will want to visit during months with the best chance for the dramatic skies. Limitless Planet will advise you on all travel plans.
SUGGESTED ITINERARIES:
Iceland, “the Land of Fire and Ice”, is incredibly captivating. With only 320,000 inhabitants you can both enjoy the vibrant city of Reykjavík and get out into the untouched land. You’ll want to start your trip in the capital city Reykjavik, small but surprisingly lively. Your time there must include a day at the Blue Lagoon geothermal spa surrounded by lava fields. We also love to make the short hop to Snaefellsnes Peninsula, a photographer’s paradise for many reasons. Dubbed 'Iceland in Miniature’ complete with a famed volcano.
We would then head to the Golden Circle: UNESCO-listed Thinvuellir, the only place on earth where you can see the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates drifting apart; Strokkur geyser, spraying 90-feet into the air, and roaring Gullfoss, one of 10,000 waterfalls on the island.
Are you looking for adventure? What about scuba diving in Silfrah Lake? Or Glacier climbing in Sólheimajökull? Maybe rafting the Hvítá River is more your style. In Iceland, it almost seems as if any nature adventure is possible. Dream it and Limitless Planet will help you achieve it!
Regardless of where you decide to spend your time in Iceland, keep a swimsuit and towel on hand. With all the geothermal energy under your feet, you won’t want to miss stopping at one of the many hot springs scattered across this magnificent island.
Finally, for our guests desiring to view the celestial Northern Lights we have several ways to offer you viewings. Our favorite is by boat, away from the pollution of any city lights. Just dress in layers because one rule of thumb is the colder the weather, the better the show. Best time to check this off your bucket list is from September to April.
